New Delhi, March 6 (NationPress) The External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar conducted a meeting with Malta's Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg during the Raisina Dialogue 2026 in New Delhi on Friday.

After their discussion, EAM Jaishankar shared on social media, "Had a productive meeting with Malta's Deputy PM this afternoon. I value his perspectives on the maritime sector."

Borg arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday to participate in the 11th Raisina Dialogue, which is taking place from March 5-7.

In a statement, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal extended a warm welcome to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Malta, Ian Borg, highlighting the friendly and cordial ties between India and Malta, which are rooted in strong people-to-people connections.

The relationship between India and Malta has been characterized by mutual respect, with numerous visits exchanged over the years. Notably, India was among the first nations to recognize Malta's independence in 1964 and established diplomatic relations soon after in 1965.

The Raisina Dialogue is organized by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in collaboration with the MEA, gathering global leaders, policymakers, academics, industry specialists, and journalists to deliberate on significant international topics.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Dialogue on Thursday, with Finland's President Alexander Stubb attending as the Chief Guest and delivering the keynote address.

The theme for the 2026 edition is 'Saṁskara – Assertion, Accommodation, Advancement'. Over three days, global decision-makers and thought leaders will engage in discussions across various formats addressing six key thematic pillars: (i) Contested Frontiers: Power, Polarity, and Periphery; (ii) Repairing the Commons: New Groups, New Guardians, New Avenues; (iii) White Whale: The Pursuit of Agenda 2030; (iv) The Eleventh Hour: Climate, Conflict, and the Cost of Delay; (v) Tomorrowland: Towards a Tech-topia; (vi) Trade in the Time of Tariffs: Recovery, Resilience, Reinvention," stated the MEA.
