Washington, Nov 12 (NationPress) The External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar engaged in bilateral discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan during the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Niagara, Canada.
EAM Jaishankar shared on X, “Had a meeting with FM Prince @FaisalbinFarhan of Saudi Arabia. Our discussion encompassed bilateral relations, regional issues, connectivity, and energy matters.”
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs also tweeted, “Foreign Minister HH Prince @FaisalbinFarhan met with Minister of External Affairs of India, @DrSJaishankar, during His Highness’s engagement in #G7FMM.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Jaishankar participated in a special session focused on maritime security alongside other G7 foreign ministers.
He also had a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who extended condolences regarding the tragic loss of lives in the recent Delhi blast.
EAM Jaishankar tweeted, “It was good to meet @SecRubio this morning at #G7 FMM. I appreciate his condolences regarding the loss of lives in the Delhi blast. We discussed bilateral relations, emphasizing trade and supply chains. We exchanged insights on the Ukraine conflict, the situation in the Middle East/West Asia, and the Indo-Pacific.”
On Tuesday, Jaishankar conducted several bilateral meetings with foreign ministers from Canada, Mexico, France, Brazil, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
India is participating in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting as an invited partner under the Canadian presidency, alongside nations such as Brazil, Australia, and South Korea. This two-day conference centers on global security, economic resilience, energy collaboration, and reinforcing partnerships in the Indo-Pacific.
A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that Jaishankar’s visit signifies India’s “ongoing commitment” to collaborating with international partners.
“EAM’s participation in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting underscores India’s dedication to working with global partners in addressing worldwide challenges and enhancing the voice of the Global South in international forums,” it added.
The External Affairs Minister is anticipated to engage in further discussions with counterparts from other participating nations before the formal conclusion of the G7 ministerial sessions in Canada on November 12.
