Itanagar, July 8 (NationPress) The chief of the Shillong-based Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal Surat Singh, recently met with Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K.T. Parnaik at Raj Bhavan to discuss critical strategic and developmental matters, as reported by officials on Tuesday.
According to a Raj Bhavan official, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Air Command visited the Governor on Monday. “The discussions covered various topics regarding national security, regional defense readiness, and disaster management, particularly considering the challenging terrain of Arunachal Pradesh and its susceptibility during the monsoon season,” the official stated.
The Governor acknowledged the motivational influence of the Indian Armed Forces in the border state and encouraged the Air Marshal to actively connect with local youth, especially those living near Advance Landing Grounds (ALGs), to inspire them to consider careers in the Armed Forces.
He highlighted that such outreach could foster a sense of pride, discipline, and patriotism among the youth.

In related efforts to connect with rural communities and motivate local youth regarding the Armed Forces, the Indian Army has initiated a special outreach program in Arunachal Pradesh, officials mentioned.
A defense spokesperson announced that the ‘Caravan Talkies’ outreach initiative commenced in Papum Pare district, Arunachal Pradesh, on Tuesday. This campaign will cover areas in Yachuli, Lower Subansiri, Upper Subansiri, Siang, Lower Siang, Pasighat, and Shi Yomi districts, in addition to the capital, Itanagar, concluding on August 2 in Geching, West Siang district.
The spokesperson explained that this innovative campaign employs mobile digital cinema vans to showcase motivational films, Army documentaries, and recruitment information across regional villages.
