Kolkata, Dec 11 (NationPress) As the deadline for submitting and digitizing the enumeration forms in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal approaches its conclusion at midnight on Thursday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has opted to deliver separate lists of excludable voters to the booth-level agents (BLAs) of all registered political parties in the state.
According to sources from the Chief Electoral Officer's (CEO) office in West Bengal, these lists will provide a comprehensive breakdown of excludable voters, including those who are deceased, have moved, are untraceable, are duplicates, and those identified as excludable for various other reasons.
This initiative by the ECI aims to foster transparency during the claims and objections phase that will follow the publication of the draft voters’ list on December 16, as stated by an insider from the CEO’s office.
“By distributing the separate lists to the BLAs right after the submission and digitization of the enumeration forms, political parties and their BLAs will have ample time to prepare for the hearings on claims and objections,” the insider added.
As of Wednesday night, the ECI has flagged a total of 57,52,207 excludable voters, including 24,14,750 deceased voters, 19,89,914 shifted voters, and 11,57,889 untraceable voters.
The remainder consists of duplicate voters and those categorized as excludable for other reasons.
Currently, the total voter count stands at 7,66,37,529 according to the list dated October 27, 2025. The SIR process commenced on November 4, with the draft voters’ list set to be unveiled on December 16, and the final list to be published on February 14.
Following that, the ECI is anticipated to announce the polling dates for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
