Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 13 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated an all-India conference and launched a nationwide initiative titled ‘Karmayoga for Empowered Bharat’ by the Brahma Kumaris, emphasizing that economic and technological advancements devoid of moral values can lead to significant social disparities.
“While economic growth stimulates prosperity and technology drives innovation, efficiency, and competition, these elements, when disconnected from morality, can result in societal imbalances,” the President stated.
She pointed out that unethical economic growth may cause wealth concentration, environmental degradation, and the exploitation of vulnerable groups. The application of technology without ethical considerations can be detrimental to humanity.
Linking governance to spirituality, Murmu remarked, “Just and equitable decisions can be derived from the nation's leadership through spiritual insights. Such choices benefit all citizens rather than a select few. When governmental actions are equitable, they enhance trust and stability within society.”
During the event, the President also initiated the silver jubilee celebrations of the Om Shanti Retreat Centre in Gurugram.
She asserted that spirituality furnishes us with essential values and a moral framework that encourages the practice of Karmayoga, or selfless service, and highlights virtues like integrity, compassion, non-violence, and serving others.
“When our thoughts are anchored in spiritual values, we can rise above self-interest and prioritize the welfare of all,” stated Murmu.
The President acknowledged that the Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya teaches Rajayoga.
“It transcends mere meditation. Karmayoga is integral to it. It involves adhering to high spiritual principles while fulfilling our duties,” she expressed, pleased to see millions associated with Brahma Kumaris leading meaningful lives through regular practice of Karmayoga.
She emphasized that through Karmayoga, every citizen can play a pivotal role in India’s sustainable and holistic development.
This approach will not only facilitate India's economic advancement but also help cultivate a society that serves as a model for value-based living worldwide, she concluded.
