Speaking at the 45th convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, she remarked, “India's greatest asset is its extensive human resources. The growing accessibility of technical education and the proliferation of digital skills are propelling India toward becoming a technological superpower.”
President Murmu highlighted that transforming India's education system to be more practical, innovation-driven, and aligned with industry needs will channel the talent of the youth towards global opportunities.
“The trajectory of our nation is being defined by a strong commitment to nurturing advanced research and innovation while guiding brilliant young minds,” she stated, urging a focus on sustainable and equitable development.
She encouraged students to utilize their expertise in creating a Green India—where progress harmonizes with nature rather than undermining it.
“The growth of a nation is intrinsically linked to the development of its people from all walks of life. No individual should be excluded from the journey of advancement,” said Murmu.
The President acknowledged that both the country and the globe face numerous intricate and swiftly evolving challenges, including climate change, resource scarcity, digital upheaval, and social inequality.
To cultivate comprehensive thinking and devise innovative solutions for complex issues, she emphasized the importance of adopting an interdisciplinary educational approach.
“The IIT-ISM plays a pivotal role in the nation’s overall growth. Beyond training exceptional engineers and researchers, this institution must also nurture compassionate, sensitive, and purposeful professionals,” she noted.
President Murmu advised students not to confine their knowledge to personal gain, but to utilize it as a force for public good.
She urged them to harness their learning to construct a stronger and more equitable India, where advancement opportunities are accessible to everyone.
