Sheikhpura (Bihar), May 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, inaugurated the Mahila Samvad initiative statewide on April 18, aiming for women empowerment and to provide insights into various state government schemes for rural women.

In four of Sheikhpura's six blocks—Ariyari, Barbigha, Chewada, and Sadar—the Samvad Raths, fitted with LED screens, are touring from village to village to educate women about these government initiatives. This program not only informs women but also seeks to understand their dreams and integrate them into the broader society.

The initiative is being conducted in Sheikhpura district in two shifts every day, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Approximately 250 women gather in the Jeevika Gram Sangathans of each Panchayat to engage in this program.

The Samvaad Rath shares information about government initiatives through video presentations.

This program not only educates women about the schemes available through Jeevika groups but also listens to their stories and recommendations.

The District Project Manager took part in a dialogue event at the Narmada Jeevika Mahila Gram Sangathan in Murarpur village, located in Katari Panchayat of the Sadar block. Women expressed how these schemes have positively impacted their lives.

District Magistrate Arif Ahsan commented: “Under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's guidance, the Mahila Samvad programme is being implemented throughout Bihar. Its aim is to disseminate information about the empowerment schemes launched over the last two decades and to hear the experiences of the women who have benefitted.

“We aim to gather the aspirations and feedback of women at the grassroots level, enabling future plans to be informed by these insights. This program is a vital step towards women's advancement in society and the empowerment of the community as a whole,” he added.

Women involved in the program shared their experiences about the opportunities and benefits derived from the Jeevika Mission.

Rani Kumari recounted: "I was previously unemployed, and my children could not attend school. After joining Jeevika, I found work, allowing me to send my children to school. Initiatives like the scholarship program and mid-day meals have made education much more accessible. This has not only improved our financial situation but also boosted my confidence."

“Scholarships and bicycle provisions for girls in Class 10 have eased my daughter’s educational journey. Now, we receive funds for clothing and books, allowing us to educate our children without financial strain. The food provided at schools also ensures our children receive proper nutrition,” she added.

Another participant shared: “Since joining the group, we have received financial assistance. Loans are now easily accessible, enabling us to build homes and launch small enterprises. We no longer struggle as we did before; the group has made us independent.”

She noted the challenges she faced due to her husband’s absence, but Jeevika and government initiatives like the widow pension and bicycle scheme have simplified her life.

The Mahila Samvaad program transcends merely providing information about schemes; it offers women a platform to voice their opinions and engage in policy development.

The enthusiastic participation from officials and women in this initiative in Sheikhpura reflects its success. Through Jeevika groups, women are achieving economic independence and establishing their social presence.
