Key Takeaways
Chennai, Feb 22 (NationPress) AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has vehemently condemned the DMK government in Tamil Nadu after the Delhi Police reported the arrest of eight individuals allegedly plotting a terror attack in Tiruppur.
In a statement shared on his official X account, Palaniswami referenced media coverage indicating that the Delhi Police took into custody eight suspects believed to be involved in planning a terrorist act in Tiruppur.
He charged that the State administration has failed to uphold law and order, suggesting the incident signifies a profound security failure under the DMK administration led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
“The Stalin-led DMK government has plunged Tamil Nadu into chaos, with law and order deteriorating alarmingly. Not only have we seen a rise in murders and robberies, but the situation has now escalated to potential terrorist schemes,” Palaniswami asserted.
Palaniswami recalled the 2022 Coimbatore car explosion, accusing the DMK government of initially mischaracterizing the incident as a 'cylinder explosion' rather than considering a possible terrorist connection.
He argued that such an attitude reflects a troubling lack of seriousness in addressing extremist threats within the State.
The AIADMK leader also questioned the measures implemented by the Tamil Nadu government and its Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to thwart such plots.
“With central agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) continuously apprehending terror suspects in Tamil Nadu, what proactive steps has the State government taken? Why did the Delhi Police need to step in and conduct these arrests?” he inquired.
Palaniswami also cautioned that if what he termed the “stubborn Stalin-led DMK” remains in power, there are rising concerns among the populace that incidents reminiscent of the 1998 Coimbatore serial blasts could happen again.
“To restore peace and ensure public safety in Tamil Nadu, a change in governance is essential,” he concluded.
As of the time of publication, the DMK government has not provided an official response to these accusations.
