Erik Solheim: PM Modi Possesses Key Attributes to Emerge as a Global Peacemaker

New Delhi, Dec 21 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi possesses all the essential qualities to serve as a global peacemaker, given an effective foreign policy that maintains neutrality and does not interfere in the affairs of other nations, stated Erik Solheim, Norway's former Minister of Climate and Environment, on Saturday.

During an exclusive conversation with IANS, the seasoned diplomat expressed that under PM Modi, India's foreign policy primarily focuses on protecting Indian interests worldwide, without engaging in the internal matters of other countries, which is the appropriate course of action.

"India is not getting involved in the internal affairs of any country, particularly the United States. India prioritizes its own interests only... which is the ideal strategy under PM Modi 3.0. This strategy fosters a much more peaceful and stable global environment," Solheim remarked.

He further emphasized that the world urgently requires global peacemakers, especially in light of the current geopolitical tensions surrounding Russia-Ukraine and issues in the Middle East.

"PM Modi stands out as one of those leaders who can maintain neutrality and promote peace. We might witness a resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict by 2025, and PM Modi can undoubtedly contribute significantly to this effort," the Norwegian diplomat asserted.

In November, renowned global investor Mark Mobius mentioned to IANS that PM Modi is capable of engaging in dialogue across the political spectrum on a global scale and merits a Nobel Peace Prize for his endeavors.

During his discussion with IANS, 88-year-old Mobius stated that PM Modi could emerge as a crucial peacemaker as the world navigates through tumultuous times, particularly the ongoing conflicts in West Asia and the Russia-Ukraine war.

Regarding the resilience of the Indian economy, Solheim projected that by 2050, India's economic growth will be comparable to that of the United States.

"There are significant positive developments in India at present across various sectors. If India can sustain economic growth at about 7% annually, it is likely to achieve this target by 2050," Solheim commented to IANS.
