Addressing the implications for trade, PM Modi noted, "The region experiencing conflict is a crucial corridor for our international trade. A substantial portion of our crude oil and gas needs is sourced from this area."
He also pointed out the importance of West Asia to India, stating, "Around one crore Indians reside and work in the Gulf nations."
In discussing the measures taken by the Center to safeguard and support Indians impacted by the conflict, PM Modi affirmed, "Since the onset of this war, every Indian in the affected regions has been provided with essential assistance. I have personally communicated with the leaders of most West Asian nations, securing assurances for the safety of Indians."
He revealed that over 375,000 Indians have successfully repatriated from West Asian countries, including 1,000 from Iran, and reiterated his government's unwavering commitment to assist those in need.
On Sunday, PM Modi convened a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to evaluate the current situation and the ongoing and proposed measures aimed at mitigating the effects of the continuing West Asia conflict.
