New Delhi, March 26 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to engage with Chief Ministers via video conferencing on Friday regarding the escalating conflict in West Asia, as confirmed by an official source.
The primary focus of this session will be to enhance collaborative efforts under the spirit of 'Team India', according to the official.
As geopolitical tensions rise and their global consequences become increasingly evident, this meeting is set to provide PM Modi with the opportunity to update Chief Ministers and foster a broader consensus on India’s strategy concerning the crisis.
“Chief Ministers from states facing elections will not participate in this meeting due to the model code of conduct,” the official noted.
There will be a distinct meeting arranged for the Chief Secretaries of election-bound states, facilitated through the Cabinet Secretariat, he added.
Previously, the government convened an all-party discussion on the West Asia situation at the Parliament House in New Delhi on Wednesday evening.
This meeting followed PM Modi's address to the Parliament concerning the West Asia issue. In his remarks, PM Modi stated that the government has formed seven empowered groups tasked with formulating strategies related to fuel, supply chains, fertilizers, and other essential areas to alleviate the repercussions of the Iran-Israel-US conflict.
The all-party assembly on Wednesday was led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Attendees included Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, alongside several other prominent leaders.
Speaking to the press following the meeting, Kiren Rijiju expressed gratitude to all party members who participated, indicating that the government addressed all inquiries and concerns raised by opposition leaders.
He further mentioned that opposition parties have pledged their support for the government's measures in response to the ongoing situation.
Notable Congress leaders such as Mukul Wasnik and Tariq Anwar, CPI-M MP John Brittas, and Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav were also present during this meeting.
This gathering occurred amidst intensifying tensions in West Asia, which have disrupted vital maritime routes and raised alarms regarding the safety of Indian nationals residing in Gulf countries.
