Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) Political figures from various parties expressed strong opinions on Wednesday in anticipation of the all-party meeting called to address the ongoing crisis in West Asia. While many welcomed this initiative, concerns regarding its timing and structure were also raised.
Congress MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka appreciated the government’s initiative but stressed the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally briefing all party leaders.
“The call for an all-party meeting is a commendable step. However, it is essential for Prime Minister Modi to directly inform all leaders about the circumstances in West Asia and India's involvement in resolving the situation,” he stated to IANS.
Ulaka’s remarks echo a widespread sentiment among the Opposition that this meeting should serve as a comprehensive discussion rather than a mere routine briefing.
From the Samajwadi Party, MP Ram Gopal Yadav raised issues about the short notice given for the meeting.
“The meeting is scheduled for 5 PM today, with invitations sent only yesterday. Our leaders Javed Ali Khan and Dharmendra Yadav from the Samajwadi Party have been invited,” he noted, indicating the party's willingness to engage while highlighting the necessity for adequate preparation.
BJP MP Shashank Mani Tripathi commended the government's approach and referred to Prime Minister Modi's previous statements made in Parliament.
“Just two days ago, Prime Minister Modi addressed the Lok Sabha to update the nation. He emphasized the need for collective action to address this crisis,” he pointed out, stressing the ruling party's commitment to national unity amidst the turmoil.
Leaders from various parties reacted according to their political affiliations: Opposition MPs emphasized transparency and thorough debate, while ruling party MPs highlighted the necessity for coordinated action and support for the government's initiatives.
The all-party meeting is set for 5 P.M. today within the Parliament complex.
It will be chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar anticipated to brief the leaders on the current developments and India’s diplomatic stance.
This meeting follows Prime Minister Modi’s comments in both Houses of Parliament, where he characterized the situation in West Asia as an “unprecedented crisis” with potential long-term repercussions.
