Jammu, April 1 (NationPress) An explosion occurred close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of J&K on Tuesday, prompting retaliatory fire from Indian Army forces in the vicinity, as reported by officials.

According to officials, the explosion took place under suspicious circumstances near the LoC in the Krishna Ghati (KG) sector of Poonch.

The army responded with retaliatory firing. Currently, there have been no reports of casualties or damage from anywhere in the sector,” an official stated, indicating that the reason behind the suspicious explosion is being investigated.

This incident in Poonch coincided with an ongoing anti-terror operation in the Kathua district that has been active since March 23.

In response to reports of three terrorists remaining untraced in Kathua, security forces have intensified their vigilance in the border districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Samba, Jammu, and Kathua within the Jammu division.

Two terrorists were neutralized in the forested area of Saniyal in Kathua, where a group of five terrorists was spotted.

Reports indicated that this group had recently infiltrated into the Indian territory and was attempting to ascend to the higher regions of the Kathua district.

Joint forces have broadened the search operation area, which led to a brief exchange of gunfire between the terrorists and security forces on Monday evening.

A 'search and destroy' operation has also commenced in Poonch and Rajouri districts, where foreign mercenaries executed heinous attacks against police, army, and security forces last year.

Terrorists have been engaging in activities in the Jammu division according to directives from their handlers located across the border in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Security forces have revised their tactics, maintaining a strong presence in areas that keeps hiding terrorists on the move, officials noted.

More than 4,000 trained Para Commandos and CRPF troops have been deployed deep within forested regions and on mountain peaks in Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Udhampur, and Reasi districts.

Constant patrolling is being conducted along the LoC and the international border in J&K to prevent infiltration attempts and, if necessary, to engage terrorists immediately upon infiltration attempts.
