Mumbai, March 18 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged film stars in Mumbai to remain calm following the recent incident at Rohit Shetty's residence.

During the legislative session, he stated, "The individual implicated in this event is Shubham Lonkar, associated with the Bishnoi gang. His brother has already been detained, and Lonkar, currently abroad, will soon face arrest," said CM Fadnavis.

Responding to a query from Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Sachin Ahir regarding the ongoing threats to celebrities in Mumbai, he reassured them, "I encourage celebrities not to fear. We will not allow Mumbai to descend into gang violence," emphasizing that adequate security measures are underway.

CM Fadnavis revealed that Lonkar hails from Akola district in Maharashtra. "He has previously issued threats to both a Congress MLA and a BJP MLA. His modus operandi involves making threats from abroad. We will certainly apprehend him in due course," he assured.

He also mentioned that Maharashtra has requested the custody of another notorious criminal, Anmol Bishnoi, who is currently in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). "We will secure his custody once the NIA process concludes, as he is wanted in various cases in Mumbai," CM Fadnavis explained.

Earlier, in a written statement, he disclosed that on February 1, an unidentified person fired a weapon, resembling a pistol, towards Shetty Tower, which is the home of Rohit Shetty, near the compound wall. Following a complaint, a case was registered at the Juhu Police Station, and it has since been transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation.

According to CM Fadnavis, a total of five shots were fired outside Shetty's residence, with one bullet striking the gallery glass. Fragments and five shell casings were recovered by the Director of the Chemical Analysis Department. Investigators have also confiscated the firearm used, the vehicle involved, and mobile phones with SIM cards from the scene. An extensive probe into the incident is ongoing.

Thirteen individuals have been arrested in connection with this case. As per the Special MCOCA Court, twelve of the accused are in judicial custody, while one is in police custody. Efforts are underway to locate three additional suspects, and the investigation continues.

In response to the incident, security has been enhanced for director Rohit Shetty. To avert such occurrences and ensure public safety, police checkpoints (nakabandi), increased police presence, and intensified patrolling have been implemented. Additionally, special investigative operations are being conducted in sensitive areas, and preventive measures against habitual offenders are being enforced.
