Poonch, Feb 24 (NationPress) With the release of the 19th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) on Monday, farmers from various regions, including Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir, expressed their heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the positive changes this scheme has brought to their lives.
The ceremony for the release of PM-KISAN funds, held in Bihar's Bhagalpur, was broadcast live and viewed by farmers at a special gathering organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Poonch. This event drew a substantial number of progressive farmers and was led by Ajay Gupta, Coordinator of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, along with Rakesh Kumar, District Agriculture Officer. The event was graced by DDC Chairperson Tajim Akhtar as the chief guest.
During the gathering, farmers shared their individual stories and the remarkable advantages they have experienced from the PM-KISAN scheme, which has played a crucial role in enhancing their agricultural methods and overall livelihoods.
Speaking to IANS, local farmer Sakshi Verma conveyed her deep gratitude, stating, "I want to express my thanks to PM Modi for the release of the 19th installment in Poonch. This scheme has made an enormous difference in our lives. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra has provided us with vital resources such as fertilizer, power tillers, and various tree species. These resources have enabled us to improve our homes and care for our children better."
Another farmer, Shakeela B, shared her happiness, saying, "Today’s event is a significant milestone for all of us. Thanks to Modi ji, not only are farmers benefiting, but female farmers are also enjoying the advantages. This scheme has empowered women like never before—those who once stayed at home are now confidently stepping out. We are receiving assistance for bee farming, tree planting, and more. PM Modi has not only offered financial support but has also instilled confidence in our abilities."
Farmer Mohammad Irfan reflected on the drastic improvements in his life since the tenure of PM Modi. "Before Narendra Modi took office, we lacked government support. But since the implementation of PM-KISAN, we receive ₹2,000 every three to four months. This financial aid has been crucial for managing the costs of seeds and other essential farming supplies. We are profoundly grateful to Modi ji for initiating such a scheme, which has truly transformed our daily existence."
Ajay Gupta, the Coordinator of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Poonch, emphasized the extensive nature of the initiative.
"The release of the 19th installment today is part of a broader effort to provide financial aid to farmers. Over ₹22,000 crore has been disbursed to nearly 9.8 crore farmers, including 2.41 crore women, across the nation through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). It’s a moment of pride for us to host this event, with over 300 farmers in attendance to witness the live broadcast. We also arranged an exhibition to showcase agricultural innovations, which received a positive response."
