Gurugram, March 13 (NationPress) A significant fire erupted in the Kingdom of Dreams (KOD) located in Sector-29 on Thursday morning, according to police reports.
Authorities confirmed that there were no injuries related to the fire, which occurred at approximately 11 a.m.
The blaze is believed to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit within the KOD.
In July 2022, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) had shut down the KOD due to unpaid dues amounting to crores of rupees.
As a result, no theatre performances or events have taken place there for the past two years.
Over 10 fire engines were deployed to extinguish the fire, and the operation lasted for one-and-a-half hours until the flames were completely subdued.
Fire brigade officials reported that a security guard at KOD alerted them to the fire; however, when firefighters arrived, the flames had already spread through the Cultural Lane.
Investigations are currently ongoing to evaluate the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
"Upon our arrival, the area was already engulfed in flames. Fire tenders were called from multiple stations. The presence of furniture inside allowed the fire to spread quickly throughout KOD," explained a fire official.
Meanwhile, Gulshan Kalra, Deputy Director (Technical) of the Fire Department, noted that while a short circuit is the suspected cause, the precise reason remains undetermined.
The police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
Last year, a fire also blazed through the renowned theatre of KOD, and the cause was never established.
"There was only one guard on duty at night. The fire brigade responded promptly after the fire was reported. The Kingdom of Dreams opened its doors in 2010," stated Naresh Kumar, Assistant Fire Service Officer at the Sector-29 fire station.
