Five Lives Lost and 27 Injured in Wedding Party Bus Tragedy in Raigad, Maharashtra

Raigad (Maharashtra), Dec 20 (NationPress) Tragically, five individuals lost their lives and 27 more sustained injuries when a private luxury bus, carrying a wedding party, lost control and flipped over in the Tamhini Ghat region of Raigad district on Friday, according to officials.

The bus, operated by Purple Travels, was en route from Lohegaon in Pune district to Birwadi village in Mahad (Raigad), transporting guests to a wedding ceremony when the calamity occurred.

The deceased include three women and two men, while the injured were promptly taken to Mangaon Rural Hospital and other medical facilities in Raigad.

The fatalities consist of Sangita Dhananjay Jadhav, Vandana Jadhav, Shilpa Pradeep Pawar, Gaurav Ashok Darade, and another unidentified male member of the Jadhav wedding party.

Initial reports indicate that the bus was traveling at high speed from Lohegaon to Birwadi, but as it approached a sharp bend on the highway, the driver reportedly lost control.

Shortly thereafter, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the bus tipped over and crashed off the sloping road, causing many occupants to cry out for help.

Local villagers and bystanders rushed to assist and alerted the Mangaon Police, who arrived on the scene with rescue teams and medical supplies, while also managing the traffic flow.

Many injured passengers were trapped inside the bus and had to be rescued, while five individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by an official from Mangaon Police Station.

During the rescue efforts, survivors dressed in their wedding attire were seen seated along the highway, lamenting the tragic loss of their loved ones, as the joyous occasion turned into a heartbreaking event.
