Chandigarh, Jan 11 (NationPress) Sunil Jakhar, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Punjab, has formally requested a forensic examination from Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav. This request pertains to a video that has been circulating on social media, purportedly featuring an individual resembling Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
During a media interaction following a rally in Samrala, which was held in conjunction with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini as part of a public awareness initiative for a rural employment scheme, Jakhar asserted, “If the Punjab Police could swiftly investigate a video concerning former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi within a single day, then the veracity of this video, which is linked to a religious sacrilege, can also be clarified promptly.”
He emphasized that Punjab is a precarious state, and the implications of such a video could potentially incite significant unrest.
“Thus, it is crucial to verify its authenticity and uncover the truth,” he stated.
Jakhar elaborated on his correspondence with the DGP, urging for a prompt forensic analysis to determine whether the individual depicted in the video is indeed the Chief Minister of Punjab or if it is merely a fabricated creation.
He also called on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to secure an unbiased forensic investigation report regarding the video before his scheduled appearance at Akal Takht Sahib on January 15, to clarify the circumstances surrounding the matter.
Moreover, on January 16, the BJP's core committee in the state plans to demonstrate outside the Chief Minister’s residence in Chandigarh.
During this event, the Chief Minister will face inquiries concerning the worsening law and order situation in the state, the increasing presence of gangsters, and the video in question, Jakhar stated.
He remarked, “If the video is indeed false, the government should issue a fact-based clarification. Conversely, if the video proves to be authentic, then Bhagwant Mann lacks the moral authority to continue as Chief Minister.”
