Godda (Jharkhand), June 8 (NationPress) A shocking incident of gang rape involving a minor tribal girl has emerged from the Godda district of Jharkhand, leading to the arrest of eight suspects, while two others remain at large, according to police reports on Sunday.
Following the registration of an FIR at the Sundarpahari police station, authorities promptly detained eight individuals.
A search operation is currently underway to apprehend the two fugitive suspects.
The arrested individuals include Sikandar Marandi, Palushan Tudu, Rajesh Tudu, Jitendra Hansda, Surendra Murmu, Dhuna Marandi, among others.
All suspects are members of the tribal community and residents of Sindri village in Dhanbad district.
The minor girl, also hailing from Sindri village in the Sundarpahari police station jurisdiction, had visited her aunt's home in Jolo village to attend a wedding on June 6.
During the festivities, she stepped into a field to relieve herself at night when two young men seized her, taking her to a secluded house and locking her in a room.
A cloth was bound over her mouth as approximately ten individuals took turns assaulting her.
Miraculously, she managed to escape and returned home in a state of distress on Sunday morning.
Upon learning of this harrowing event, members of the tribal community convened a panchayat on June 7, purportedly to downplay the incident.
The girl’s family was pressured to remain silent, but they chose to report the incident to the authorities.
The victim has since been taken to the hospital for a medical examination.
