Patna, April 10 (NationPress) In a deeply distressing event, a minor girl took her own life by hanging in her home following an alleged rape at gunpoint in Nalanda district, Bihar.

The Class XII student resorted to this tragic decision nearly twelve hours after the horrific incident, as she reportedly struggled to cope with the overwhelming trauma and anguish from the assault.

Being one of five sisters, she had recently completed her Intermediate Examinations, while the alleged perpetrator is said to belong to a prominent family in her neighborhood.

After the assault, the accused threatened her family against reporting the matter to the authorities.

Preliminary investigations indicate that an 'electoral feud' might have played a role in the incident. The suspect is believed to be the son of a former ward councillor, who expressed anger towards the girl’s family for not supporting them during the elections.

The police have dispatched the body for a post-mortem examination to a local hospital in Bihar Sharif and have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the minor girl’s death.

The victim's father stated that the assault occurred while they were busy harvesting wheat in their fields. Upon returning home around 9 PM, they were alarmed by their daughter's cries.

Upon entering the house, they found a boy from the neighboring household, armed with a pistol.

After committing this heinous act, the assailant threatened the family to keep silent about what had transpired.

The family alleges that the accused's father, previously a Ward Commissioner, also pressured them to remain silent about the incident.

According to the family, the accused had a grudge against them due to their prior electoral rivalry—stemming from their decision not to vote for him.

Devastated by the tragedy, the family comforted their daughter, assuring her that justice would prevail. The following morning, they returned to the fields to continue harvesting and found the door locked upon their return around 9 AM.

In a state of fear and pressure from the threats, the girl tragically decided to end her life by hanging from a ceiling fan.

Her mother discovered her lifeless body hanging, using a dupatta.

The mourning family is calling for severe punishment for the accused, claiming that he remains at large in the village, disregarding police intervention.

Rajgir DSP, Sunil Kumar Singh, stated that every angle of the case is being scrutinized, and an essential investigation is in progress.

During the preliminary investigation, the family hinted at a possible romantic link; however, given the serious nature of the allegations of sexual assault and rape, a thorough inquiry is underway.

The DSP remarked, “An FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team has visited the crime scene, collecting the victim's clothing and other vital evidence. The complete truth will be revealed once the post-mortem and FSL reports are finalized. The police are diligently investigating all facets of this incident.”
