As per police accounts, the horrifying event transpired on Saturday night during a wedding celebration in a village falling under the jurisdiction of the Sursang police.
The wedding party had traveled from the Simdega district. Around 9 p.m., four girls present at the festivity ventured into a secluded area for a brief moment, where they encountered six young men.
While three of the girls managed to flee, the fourth—who is a minor—was seized and taken into a nearby forest.
In that secluded spot, the girl was reportedly gang-raped by all six men. When she lost consciousness, the assailants, believing she was dead, left her behind in the woods.
Fortunately, the girl regained consciousness later and found her way back home. Her father promptly filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Sursang police station on Sunday.
Responding quickly, the police conducted raids at several locations and apprehended all six suspects.
