Guwahati, Feb 18 (NationPress) Gauhati University’s dedicated efforts to assist those preparing for competitive exams have borne fruit, as 13 individuals trained under its Initiative for Competitive Examinations (GUICE) successfully cleared the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024, according to university officials on Wednesday.
The triumphant candidates participated in a complimentary, specialized interview-preparation program organized by the University for those who reached the final stage of this esteemed state civil services examination.
This program, executed under the GUICE initiative, focused on mock interviews, personality enhancement, and practical training for the viva voce.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta expressed that the results affirm the University’s mission to extend academic support beyond traditional classroom settings. “GUICE embodies Gauhati University’s dedication to fostering excellence and equipping students for roles in public leadership. Competitive exams serve as gateways to governance, and universities must actively assist aspirants in this endeavor,” he stated.
GUICE was inaugurated in 2024 as a career-focused initiative, leading to the reformation of the University’s Pre-Examination Training Cell (PETC), which now prioritizes civil services and other competitive exams. This training model integrates long-term subject mastery with focused interview coaching.
The interview-preparation program was overseen by former APSC Chairman Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury and included candidates from the 2024–25 batch who had qualified for the mains examination.
GUICE operates through two specialized streams: a long-term coaching module concentrating on core subjects and a targeted interview-preparation module designed to enhance confidence and clarity through repetitive mock sessions.
Among the successful candidates are Anindita Das (Rank 13, Assam Civil Service), Rinky Rani Das (Rank 24, Assam Civil Service), Antarikhya Sarma (Rank 5, Assistant Manager/Assistant Industries Officer), Mintu Nath (Rank 2, Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies), Girish Patodia (Rank 8, Assam Finance Service), Himakshi Baruah (Rank 4, Inspector of Taxes), and Rajib Kalita (Rank 4, Assistant Employment Officer), among others.
Registrar Prof. Utpal Sarma indicated that the program aims to balance competence with public responsibility, while PETC Deputy Director Dr. Sanjay Kumar Dutta affirmed that similar initiatives will continue to bolster support systems for aspirants.
University officials congratulated the successful candidates and wished them well in their future endeavors in public service.
