Bangalore, April 10 (NationPress) Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan stressed the necessity for swift decision-making in an AI-enhanced battlespace, pointing out that multi-domain operations involve integration across physical, synthetic, and cognitive realms, as stated by an official on Friday.

During the final day of the two-day national seminar ‘Ran Samwad’, themed "Multi-Domain Operations (MDO): A Necessity for Tackling Conventional and Irregular Threats", the CDS highlighted that modern warfare encompasses various dimensions, including time, cyber, electromagnetic (EM) spectrum, and cognition.

This evolution requires seamless integration among all three services and innovative approaches; he noted that the emphasis has transitioned from mere coordination to genuine integration within the Indian Defence Forces.

General Chauhan also revealed that the next ‘Ran Samwad 2027’ will focus on the theme "High-Intensity Operations in a Transparent and Expanded Battlespace: Complexities for Force Application and Force Preservation". Following his address, he engaged with media representatives, praising their contributions to nation-building and the enhancement of strategic culture.

The second day of the seminar featured in-depth discussions led by senior tri-service officers covering a wide array of topics such as Doctrinal Adaptation and Training for MDO, reimagining operational strategy, ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance) integration for information superiority in MDO, and collaborative planning.

The seminar effectively promoted a mutual understanding of the challenges posed by both conventional and irregular threats through a collaborative roadmap and meaningful dialogues concerning the complexities of warfare.

The cooperative spirit exhibited throughout the event reaffirmed the Indian Defence Forces' commitment to achieving decision superiority and operational excellence in a complex multi-domain battlespace.

Earlier, a session featured an engaging discussion on "Reimagining Operational Art for #MDO", presided over by Lt General Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C Central Command, as mentioned in a social media update.

“He pointed out that operational art needs to evolve from single-domain conflict to persistent Multi-Domain and grey-zone warfare,” the post stated.

“Air Cmde MPS Virk addressed ‘ISR Integration for Information Superiority in #MDO’. Wg Cdr Abhishek Tripathi provided insights on the intricacies of ‘Joint Planning for #MDO’. Capt (IN) RS Sawan discussed ‘Force Development for #MDO: Current Capabilities and Future Needs’,” the post further elaborated.
