A 17-year-old boy, identified as Surya Chauhan, was allegedly stabbed to death in Ghaziabad's Khoda Colony, with neighbours claiming that a local hospital refused to treat him because his family could not arrange ₹4 lakh demanded upfront. The teenager, who had recently appeared for his Class 10 Board examinations, succumbed to his injuries on Friday, a day after the stabbing on Thursday, according to police.

What Neighbours Alleged About the Hospital

Residents who spoke to reporters alleged that medical staff at a local hospital turned the family away citing non-payment. 'The doctor refused to treat the child because they wanted us to pay ₹4 lakh. If they had wanted, the boy could have been saved but the poor family did not have that much money,' a local woman said.

She added that more than 48 hours after the incident, the family had still not received the body, and the victim's mother had not been informed of the extent of his injuries. 'We have not received his body as yet. The mother of the child has not even seen how badly he was injured in the attack,' she said.

Background to the Attack

According to locals, a minor dispute between Surya and the accused had reportedly occurred seven to eight months earlier but was believed to have been resolved. However, residents claimed that local vendors had told them the accused had allegedly been carrying a knife for the two days preceding the attack.

Locals described the assault as particularly brutal, with one resident recounting a brief video clip showing the teenager being dragged into a lane. Surya's father had passed away, and his mother and elder brother were the family's sole earners.
