New Delhi, Aug 4 (NationPress) - Union Minister Giriraj Singh has vehemently criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav on Monday, accusing them of deceiving the public and undermining faith in essential institutions like the Election Commission of India.
“Both Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav are creating confusion through their persistent falsehoods. They've transitioned from fabricating claims about SIR to misleading their own supporters. They have also shown disrespect towards the Election Commission, a revered constitutional body,” Singh remarked during a media briefing.
Singh expressed serious concern over Tejashwi Yadav’s recent assertions regarding the voters' list, hinting at potential legal repercussions. “If Tejashwi Yadav, who sees himself as a future Chief Minister, continues to propagate such inaccuracies, the institution will have no choice but to pursue legal measures,” he declared.
The dispute surfaced after Tejashwi Yadav claimed on Saturday that his name was absent from the updated draft electoral roll released on Friday in poll-bound Bihar.
During a press conference in Patna, Yadav presented his Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and illustrated how his name was not visible on the Election Commission’s mobile application, displaying a message stating “no records found.”
However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) promptly denied the accusation. In an official announcement, the Commission described Yadav’s claim as “mischievous” and factually inaccurate.
“We have noted that Tejashwi Yadav has made a mischievous assertion that his name is not present in the draft electoral roll. In fact, his name is recorded at Serial Number 416 in the Draft Electoral Roll. Hence, any assertion claiming his name is absent is false and misleading,” the Commission clarified.
It also provided a copy of the electoral roll showcasing Yadav’s listing at a booth situated in Veterinary College, Patna.
This controversy is anticipated to intensify the already charged political atmosphere in Bihar, as parties prepare for the forthcoming crucial electoral contest.
