New Delhi, Aug 5 (NationPress) RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has criticized the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging significant irregularities in Bihar's electoral rolls. In response to claims regarding dual voter ID cards, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar stated that he will not only address the allegations but that the RJD is also gathering evidence of numerous discrepancies within the electoral process.
"We will respond to this... Numerous names are absent from the voter list, and we possess various irregularities attributed to the Election Commission. We intend to forward this information to the Election Commission and present it in court," Tejashwi informed reporters before departing for Ranchi to attend the funeral services of veteran leader Shibu Soren.
Yadav further explained, "We have requested booth-wise data due to the intentional exclusion of many names. For instance, Vyas ji's name is not listed. In certain households, more than 50 voters have been omitted. These are not trivial mistakes; they are serious irregularities, and we have substantial proof. This evidence will be submitted to the Election Commission and the court."
His statements arise amid ongoing controversy regarding allegations that he possesses dual voter ID cards.
The Election Commission has sent a notice to Tejashwi, asking him to provide the EPIC number that he claimed was removed from the Bihar voter list, despite the commission asserting that his name is included in the draft electoral roll.
The BJP has strongly condemned Tejashwi, alleging that possessing two voter ID cards constitutes a criminal act and calling for stringent action against him.
In the meantime, Yadav confirmed that the RJD's scheduled Vote Adhikar Yatra has been postponed due to Shibu Soren's passing.
"There has been a rescheduling, but the new date for the Yatra will be announced shortly," he stated.
Regarding Shibu Soren’s death, Yadav expressed profound sadness. “We received the distressing news yesterday. We are now en route to Ranchi to pay our final respects. Shibu Soren ji fought for the impoverished, the marginalized, and particularly for tribal rights. He was also a long-time ally of my father and the RJD-JMM alliance. His passing represents a political loss for the country, and we extend our full condolences to his family.”
Yadav is anticipated to join other national leaders at Nemra village in Jharkhand on Tuesday, where Soren's final rites will take place.
