Government Approves Financial Support for AI Touch's AI-Driven 5G RAN Development

New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) AI Touch LLP has received financial backing through a Department of Telecommunications initiative aimed at developing essential components for a disaggregated 5G RAN (Radio Access Network). This includes the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC), Service Management and Orchestration (SMO), and Network Data Analytics Function (NWDAF) modules, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.
The project is set to enhance operational efficiency within the 5G network, with oversight provided by the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT).
Under the TTDF scheme of USOF (now known as “Digital Bharat Nidhi”), the initiative aims to create a platform that integrates the SMO, RIC, and NWDAF modules for 5G RAN using an AI/ML-powered intent engine. This will facilitate intelligent and automated management of RAN and core nodes via AI/ML-based applications and closed-loop automation, as mentioned in the statement.
The project is anticipated to provide solutions that simplify operational complexities, enhance cost efficiency for Mobile Network Operators, and support new applications within the telecommunications sector. It seeks to foster the growth of an indigenous 5G ecosystem and establish a foundation for future innovations, the statement clarified.
The platform will showcase a sample application designed to manage user experience during congestion scenarios and will offer interfaces for integrating third-party applications. It will combine Non-Real-Time RIC, Near-Real-Time RIC, SMO, and NWDAF to boost network automation and performance.
The RIC modules will facilitate AI/ML-driven network optimization, while the SMO will support cross-domain orchestration, and the NWDAF will deliver analytics and insights for improved decision-making.
C-DOT CEO Rajkumar Upadhyay stated, “As the implementation partner, C-DOT will ensure the project meets the highest standards of technological development. By enabling collaboration with industry leaders like AI Touch, we are fostering the creation of indigenous solutions that will fortify India’s telecom landscape.”
Dr Parag Agarwal, DDG of TTDF (Telecom Technology Development Fund) remarked, "This project will not only facilitate AI-driven advancements but will also establish the groundwork for a self-sufficient 5G ecosystem."
Amit Gupta, Partner at AI Touch, expressed, “Our goal is to utilize AI and ML to develop advanced analytics and intelligent models. In this project, we are spearheading the creation of predictive capabilities and automation frameworks within RIC and NWDAF, ensuring the platform is adept at managing complex network challenges with precision.”
