Government Greenlights Extra 5,000 MW Renewable Energy for Rajasthan

Jaipur, Jan 10 (NationPress) The Central government has officially sanctioned an additional allocation of 5,000 MW under Component-A of the PM Kusum Yojana for the Rajasthan government, as confirmed by officials.

This important decision underscores Rajasthan's preeminence in the solar energy sector and represents a crucial advancement in promoting renewable energy initiatives within the state.

In an official correspondence to Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma had previously requested this allocation.

The issue was further deliberated during a recent meeting held in Delhi between the two leaders.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi announced the favorable development on his X account, stating, "On January 7, 2025, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and his team met with me in Delhi to request an additional 5,000 MW under the PM Kusum (Component A - Feeder Level Solarisation) scheme. I am delighted to inform you that we have promptly approved this request and issued orders for the added allocation."

He further emphasized, "With the guidance of PM Narendra Modi, we are committed to leading the renewable energy sector and addressing the needs and concerns of state governments, which are essential partners in this endeavor."

The Rajasthan government has actively pursued the implementation of the PM Kusum Yojana, fostering the adoption of solar power at the grassroots level.

This new allocation is anticipated to assist the state in reaching its ambitious target of providing daytime electricity for farmers by 2027, as stated by officials. They also noted that this measure is expected to enhance Rajasthan's solar energy capacity and support the agricultural community with sustainable energy solutions.

Chief Minister Sharma has previously indicated that the state is striving for self-sufficiency in the energy sector.

"By 2027, Rajasthan will achieve self-sufficiency in electricity," the Chief Minister remarked.
