Key Takeaways
Ahmedabad, Dec 5 (NationPress) Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel officially inaugurated the foundation for the forthcoming Menaba Rotary Multi-Speciality Hospital in Unjha, located in the Mehsana district. This facility is set to be constructed over 10 bighas and aims to establish a state-of-the-art, comprehensive healthcare center for North Gujarat.
During the event, the Chief Minister remarked that, under the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat has experienced a remarkable enhancement in healthcare services and medical education.
“When he served as Chief Minister, Gujarat had merely 1,175 medical seats. Today, thanks to his foresight, that figure has significantly increased, enabling even the most remote villages to have access to qualified medical professionals,” he stated.
Patel highlighted that the new hospital will become a “modern health sanctuary” for the region and expressed gratitude to the donors who have supported the project, emphasizing their contribution to improving healthcare access for the community.
The Chief Minister pointed out that key healthcare reforms initiated by the Centre include the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which offers Rs 5 lakh in free medical coverage to families. “The state government has supplemented this with an additional Rs 5 lakh, providing a total health coverage of Rs 10 lakh for Gujarat citizens,” he remarked.
He also noted the availability of dialysis centers in every taluka and chemotherapy facilities in every district, which has significantly decreased the burden of travel for patients needing critical treatments.
Cabinet Minister Rishikesh Patel emphasized the importance of skilled healthcare professionals and credited the Prime Minister for the substantial increase in medical seats.
He mentioned that Gujarat now enjoys a robust network of PHCs, CHCs, and sub-district hospitals, asserting that the new hospital’s strategic location will be crucial during road accidents and emergencies.
The upcoming hospital is designed with a built-up area of 100,000 sq ft and will offer over 200 beds, which includes 20 ICU beds and 20 speciality clinics. It will feature four operation theatres and specialized departments such as general medicine, neurology and spine care, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, cardiology, oncology, and critical care.
Advanced amenities will include IVF, NICU-PICU, a chemotherapy unit, and a dedicated labor room for gynecology. The hospital will operate 24/7, providing services such as a pharmacy, laboratory, CT scan, digital X-ray, blood bank, and ICU-on-wheels support.
MPs Haribhai Patel, Mayank Nayak, and Babubhai Desai shared their congratulations at the ceremony, which was also attended by Pujya Mahant Jayramgiri Ji Maharaj, several MLAs from the area, Unjha Municipality officials, APMC leaders, district administration representatives, donors, and a large crowd of local residents.
