Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday, 18 August held a series of round-table and one-to-one meetings with more than 100 leaders from the semiconductor and technology sectors in the United States, positioning Gujarat as a long-term strategic partner for technology, innovation and supply-chain development — not merely an investment destination. The engagements formed the centrepiece of the second day of Patel's ongoing US visit.

Key Meetings and Sectors Covered

The Chief Minister and a state government delegation engaged with leaders spanning artificial intelligence, EdTech, HealthTech, gaming and DeepTech, with discussions centred on investment opportunities, research collaboration, skilling initiatives and business partnerships between American companies and the state. A dedicated round table brought together AI, HealthTech, EdTech and gaming executives, where conversations ranged from generative AI and large language models to their applications in advertising, content creation, video generation and education.

Patel also invited participating companies to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027, scheduled for January 2027, and encouraged them to explore potential partnerships through business-to-business and business-to-government channels.

What the Gujarat Government Pitched

During semiconductor and technology discussions, Patel highlighted the potential to combine Silicon Valley's technological capabilities with Gujarat's industrial base. He outlined the state's commitment to building a complete ecosystem — spanning research and development, innovation, manufacturing and global expansion.

'The success of a next-generation technology hub will depend not only on innovation but also on the ability to provide all facilities such as land, electricity, connectivity, capital, talent and policy stability together. Gujarat is ready to provide all of this and facilitate technology-led investment,' Patel said.

Industry representatives at the meetings pointed to Gujarat's infrastructure, policy stability, faster permission processes and what they described as a business-friendly and proactive approach as key differentiators.

Semiconductor Ambitions and Commonwealth Games Angle

Gujarat has been actively positioning itself as a major semiconductor and electronics manufacturing destination, with the state government describing it as a fast-moving chip-manufacturing hub driven by policy stability and ease of doing business. Discussions at the US meetings also touched on the Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held in Gujarat, with participants examining how the event could help strengthen the state's gaming ecosystem through supportive policies and greater industry participation.

Senior Officials and Diaspora Outreach

Chief Secretary M K Das and Additional Chief Secretary (Industries Department) Mamta Verma addressed the meetings, outlining Gujarat's development journey, the successive editions of the Vibrant Gujarat summit and preparations for the 2027 edition. On the first day of the tour, Patel had engaged with members of the Gujarati diaspora in San Francisco, seeking stronger links between global Gujarati talent and the state's emerging semiconductor, AI and technology ecosystem.
