The organization emphasized that the magnitude of this budget signifies a robust commitment to enhancing infrastructure and boosting industrial capacity.
Finance Minister Kanu Desai unveiled the budget in the state Assembly on Wednesday.
Karan Shah, Co-Convenor of the CII Gujarat Panel for Policy Advocacy, Ease of Doing Business, and Economic Affairs, expressed that this budget marks a significant milestone in the state’s financial history.
“This is the first time Gujarat has surpassed the Rs 4 lakh crore threshold in its budget, indicating a tremendous leap in developmental and infrastructure investments,” Shah remarked.
He highlighted the proposed expansion of industrial infrastructure through the announcement of 25 new estates by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), which is expected to decentralize growth and create job opportunities throughout various regions.
“The establishment of 25 new GIDCs will significantly enhance industrial growth, decentralizing development and fostering regional employment centers,” he stated.
Shah also underscored the focus on innovation and entrepreneurship, pointing out that the initiative to set up new i-Hubs will fortify the state’s startup ecosystem and bolster technology-driven businesses.
“The budget prioritizes the startup ecosystem by introducing new i-Hubs, ensuring that Gujarat stays ahead in entrepreneurship and technology,” he noted.
Furthermore, Shah remarked that the budget also prioritizes social sectors, incorporating schemes aimed at women’s welfare and healthcare, illustrating a well-rounded approach to development.
“CII applauds this visionary budget. Many of our policy suggestions have been embraced, and we appreciate the government’s industry-friendly stance. This budget not only aids businesses but also lays the foundation for an evolved Gujarat,” Shah concluded.
He also mentioned that the budget is in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ and positions Gujarat as a key player in India’s long-term growth trajectory.
