Gurugram, March 1 (NationPress) The Gurugram Police have apprehended an individual for deceiving numerous people out of lakhs of rupees under the guise of a travel package for international travel, authorities reported.
As per the police report, a complaint was lodged on December 12, indicating that in November 2024, the victim had booked a trip to Thailand through a travel agency called 'Fair Fuel Holiday Private Limited'. However, subsequently, the representative of the company ceased all communication via phone and email.
The victim stated, "I made a payment in 2024, but the accused failed to arrange the journey as assured. He was neither prepared to organize the trip nor refund the amount. I promptly filed a police report."
Upon investigation, the victim discovered that the company had swindled him by accepting the payment without booking any overseas travel arrangements. The fraudulent company had similarly duped numerous other individuals.
Following the complaint, a case was registered under relevant legal provisions at the Udyog Vihar Police Station in Gurugram.
During the inquiry, the police apprehended the suspect, identified as Suryakant Jha, a resident of Sihol, Saharsa in Bihar, and placed him in five days of police custody.
Initial investigations revealed that the accused had established an office under the name of a travel agency and accepted payments under the pretense of facilitating international travel but failed to make any arrangements. The accused had also set up a similar office in Delhi. Previously, in 2019, he was arrested by the cyber crime unit of the Gurugram Police for committing fraud but was released on bail and resumed his deceitful activities.
The spokesperson for the Gurugram police, Sandeep Kumar, stated, "The accused has been presented in court and is now under five days of police custody for further questioning. The accused will undergo thorough interrogation during this custody, and actions will be taken based on the findings from the inquiry."
