Gurugram: Cyber Fraud Suspect Leaps from Hotel Balcony in Attempted Escape, Fatality Occurs

Gurugram, January 8 (NationPress) A cyber fraud suspect jumped from a hotel's balcony while attempting to evade police custody but tragically succumbed to severe head injuries in Gurugram.

As part of an investigation into a cyber fraud incident, police from Madhya Pradesh had apprehended four suspects in a society located in Dhunela village of Sohna on Tuesday.

The Gwalior Police were lodged on the third floor of a hotel adjacent to Sohna's general bus stand, accompanying the four suspects detained in the cybercrime case.

At approximately 1 p.m. on Tuesday, one of the suspects, Himanshu, who hails from Sukhshin village in Madhepura district of Bihar, requested permission to use the restroom. Instead, he made his way to the adjoining balcony. In a bid to escape from police custody, he attempted to leap down using a wire attached to a pole in front of the balcony. Unfortunately, he lost his grip during the jump and fell. His head struck the ground as he was dragged along the pole, resulting in serious injuries,” a police officer stated.

The police team promptly transported him to Sohna Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

According to Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar, “The body has been sent for a postmortem examination, which is scheduled for Wednesday.”

A case has been filed based on a complaint lodged by the Madhya Pradesh Police.

The police reported that the suspect attempted to flee from custody.

An investigation into the incident has commenced.

In December of the previous year, Gurugram Police dismantled an illegal call center in Udyog Vihar, Phase-2, apprehending 18 individuals in connection with the operation.

The call center was found to have defrauded U.S. citizens under the guise of offering technical support by creating a counterfeit website for an accounting firm, according to police.
