Gurugram, April 13 (NationPress) A team from the crime branch of Gurugram police has apprehended six individuals, including two women, for stealing from a man who was led to believe he was booking an escort service, the police reported on Sunday.

A Delhi resident lodged a complaint at the Sector-29 police station on Saturday, stating that he had reserved a hotel room in Chakarpur, Gurugram.

That night, he discovered an online contact and reached out via WhatsApp to arrange for an escort.

"Not long after, a car arrived at the hotel, and he got inside. Once inside, the occupants demanded money. When he refused, they assaulted him," the complainant recounted to the authorities.

The complainant indicated that among the assailants were two women.

The suspects physically assaulted him, stole his mobile phone, transferred Rs 59,500 online, and then fled the scene.

Upon receiving the complaint, a case was registered under pertinent sections at the Sector-29 police station in Gurugram.

During the investigation, a police team from Sector-43's Crime Branch took swift action, arresting the six suspects in Sector-39 on Saturday.

The arrested individuals were identified as Muskan from Uttarakhand, Lalita from Uttar Pradesh, and Saurabh Arora, Pradeep Meena, Sonu Chaudhary, and Jaiprakash Sharma, all hailing from Rajasthan.

According to Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for the Gurugram police, a review of the suspects' criminal records revealed that Pradeep had previously been implicated in a robbery case in Gurugram. One car and a knife believed to have been used in the crime were seized from the suspects' possession.

The accused will be presented in court and will be placed in police custody for further interrogation and evidence recovery. Additional actions will follow according to legal regulations, he added.
