Gwalior, July 19 (NationPress) What started as a standard traffic control effort ahead of the visit from BJP Madhya Pradesh President Hemant Khandelwal escalated into a major incident, leading to the 'line-attachment' of Station In-Charge Prashant Sharma from the University Police Station in Gwalior.
The Senior Superintendent of Police Dharmveer Singh has ordered an investigation into the matter, appointing Additional SP Krishna Lalchandani to oversee it. He informed IANS that the situation seems related to the removal of vehicles during a VIP visit.
Currently, all aspects are under review, and the Sub-Inspector (SI) has been placed on 'line-attachment'.
The incident occurred outside The Blive Hotel in Patel Nagar around 4:30 P.M. on Thursday, where SI Sharma was dispatched to address a traffic jam allegedly caused by a vehicle parked belonging to hotel associate Ankit Jadon.
When his request to move the car went unanswered, Sharma reportedly broke the car's rear window, leading to a rapid escalation of events.
Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage reveal that Jadon confronted Sharma, who then drove off in his Mercedes. Jadon, attempting to stop him, ended up holding onto the car's bonnet.
Shocking footage from the hotel's security cameras shows the vehicle speeding away with Jadon clinging on. The young man was pulled for nearly 500 metres before Sharma halted abruptly, causing Jadon to tumble onto the road and injure his hand.
On Friday, another video surfaced indicating that SI Sharma had also dragged hotel operator Shivam Bhadoria on the bonnet earlier.
A crowd can be seen pursuing SI Sharma's Mercedes in the footage, raising serious concerns about the officer's actions. (However, IANS has yet to verify the authenticity of both videos).
The viral footage has ignited widespread outrage, prompting attention from Gwalior to Bhopal.
Director General of Police Kailash Makwana took notice of the situation, and SI Sharma was 'line-attached' later that night.
Sharma defended himself on social media, asserting he was fulfilling official VIP duties and that the Mercedes belonged to his father.
He denied all allegations while avoiding a direct response to the video evidence. Meanwhile, Bhadoria claimed that Sharma was intoxicated, verbally abusive, and threatened to damage hotel property.
