Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), Feb 13 (NationPress) The abduction of a 7-year-old boy in Gwalior on Thursday morning ignited a political uproar as the Opposition Congress questioned the law enforcement situation in Madhya Pradesh.

Describing the kidnapping as a “disturbing” and “threatening” illustration of criminal activity, seasoned Congress leader and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath stated that this incident has once again highlighted the state’s declining safety conditions.

“The audacity of criminals in this state has become so pronounced that they no longer possess any fear of the law. I anticipate that prompt action will be undertaken and the child will be returned to his family unharmed,” Kamal Nath expressed in a statement.

In the meantime, the minister responsible for Gwalior, Tulsiram Silawat, communicated with Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana via phone and is closely monitoring the case's progress with senior police officials.

Silawat also reached out to the parents of the abducted child and assured them that efforts are being made to ensure the boy's safe return.

The child, aged between 6 to 7 years, resides in Gwalior.

The incident took place in the Muran district of Gwalior on Thursday morning while his mother was taking him to school.

Suddenly, two assailants arrived on motorbikes, threw chili powder in her eyes, seized the child, and fled.

This entire episode was captured by a nearby CCTV camera.

The footage depicts a young man waiting on a red motorcycle while his accomplice rushes in with the child.

He then hops onto the bike with the boy, and they quickly escape. The video also portrays the child's mother trying to pursue them.

Gwalior Division IG Arvind Saxena informed reporters that a police team has already engaged with the parents, but they were not in a position to answer further inquiries.

“This situation is very serious, and we are investigating from multiple angles. We aim to gather more substantial information from the parents that can lead us to the criminals promptly. Several teams are actively working on this case,” Saxena stated.

Saxena mentioned that the police have offered a reward of Rs 30,000 for information regarding the child taken from Murar CP Colony or the kidnappers. He has provided the phone number +91 91310 46472 for any tips related to the location of the child or information on the abductors.
