Gwalior, Feb 14 (NationPress) A seven-year-old boy, Shivay Gupta, was abducted in broad daylight while traveling to school alongside his mother in Gwalior on Thursday morning. Fortunately, he has been successfully rescued.

In a video statement released late on Thursday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav confirmed that the police had safely located the boy, who is now on his way back to his parents.

Shivay Gupta was taken from Gwalior this morning. A comprehensive search operation involving multiple police teams was executed, resulting in the boy's safe recovery. The police are currently escorting him back to his parents,” said the Chief Minister.

While refraining from sharing specific details about the kidnappers, the Chief Minister mentioned that the suspects have been apprehended and will face severe legal consequences for their actions.

“I extend my congratulations to the Gwalior district police for their effective operation executed in such a short timeframe. The state government guarantees that the suspects will be punished under the law,” he added.

However, the Chief Minister did not disclose the identities of the accused or the location from which the boy was rescued.

It is worth noting that Shivay was kidnapped in the Muran area of Gwalior while his mother was on her way to school.

Suddenly, two assailants arrived on motorcycles and threw chilli powder in her eyes, forcibly abducting the child and making him sit on one of the bikes before fleeing. This shocking incident was captured on CCTV.

The footage reveals a young man waiting on a red motorcycle while his accomplice rushes in with the child in his arms.

After placing the boy on the bike, both sped away.

The video also depicts the child's mother attempting to pursue them. This brazen act of kidnapping during daylight has ignited a political controversy, with the opposition Congress party questioning the law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh.

Describing the child's abduction as a “shocking” and “dangerous” example of crime, Congress leader and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath stated that this incident highlighted the state's declining law and order.

“The audacity of criminals in the state has grown to the point where they exhibit no fear of the law. I trust that prompt action will be taken, ensuring the child's safe return to his parents,” Kamal Nath remarked earlier that day.

Minister in charge of Gwalior, Tulsiram Silawat, has reached out to Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana via phone.
