Gwalior, March 6 (NationPress) A catastrophic fire incident has emerged at the Lal Tipara Gaushala (cowshed), located approximately 15 km from the heart of Gwalior. The blaze was triggered by an undetermined source, igniting the straw-made sofas and leading to a substantial fire.
This event took place within the Morar police station area.
The lack of adequate safety measures at the cowshed worsened the situation, permitting the flames to spread swiftly and consume the entire vicinity for around thirty minutes.
The initial moments were filled with chaos, as flames devoured the straw, creating thick clouds of smoke.
A senior police officer, speaking to IANS via phone, confirmed the occurrence and stated that the Gaushala's grounds are expansive, with the incident happening in a section where management hosts events.
The officer dismissed the possibility of a short circuit being the cause of the fire.
“No live wires were detected; however, an investigation will determine the fire's origin,” the official stated, adding, “no injuries or fatalities have been reported.”
The Gaushala, renowned in the region, spans several acres and shelters hundreds of cows. It took approximately 25 minutes for fire brigade units to arrive at the incident site.
Upon arrival, the firefighters quickly took action and successfully controlled the fire, ultimately extinguishing it.
Their prompt response averted what could have been a devastating disaster, preserving the cowshed from total destruction.
At the time of the blaze, all personnel were attending a meeting, and luckily, no cows were in close proximity to the flames.
This fortunate circumstance resulted in no casualties, with both cows and individuals remaining unharmed.
“It is a large campus with separate sections... the cows and a bio-gas facility were situated far from the fire's location,” the police officer noted.
The cowshed community breathed a collective sigh of relief, acknowledging the disaster that could have unfolded if the fire had ignited at night when the cows would have been nearby.
Another official mentioned that police are currently investigating the incident to identify the cause of the fire and ensure the installation of modern fire-fighting equipment and the enforcement of robust safety protocols are vital to avert future occurrences.
The Gaushala is reportedly the largest in Madhya Pradesh, housing thousands of cows.
