Jaipur, June 20 (NationPress) A consensus has been established between the Rajasthan government and the family of Dr. Rakesh Vishnoi, the resident doctor from SN Medical College, Jodhpur, who tragically ended his life.
RLP supporters indicated that the government's agreement to the deceased doctor's family's demands came as a result of Hanuman Beniwal's persistent protests.
Earlier today, Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) MP Hanuman Beniwal, accompanied by his supporters, demonstrated outside the mortuary of Sawai Mansingh Hospital in Jaipur.
In spite of heavy downpours, the protesters maintained their sit-in, seeking justice in this grave matter. Plans to march from the mortuary to the Chief Minister’s residence led to police barricading the road connecting Tonk Road to JLN Marg to avert any escalation.
Before the agreement was reached, MP Beniwal condemned the administration's approach to this issue.
“The insensitivity displayed by the Jodhpur administration is glaring. In his final moments, Dr. Rakesh Vishnoi was calling out for help. Our primary demand is the suspension and arrest of HOD Dr. Rajkumar Rathore. An unbiased investigation committee must be established and the findings reported to the government swiftly,” he stated.
He also noted that despite the protests from members of the Jat and Vishnoi communities, not a single government official or minister has made an appearance.
Dr. Rakesh Vishnoi allegedly ingested poison on June 13 and succumbed the following day at SMS Hospital in Jaipur. His family asserts he was facing harassment from his Head of Department, Dr. Rajkumar Rathore, leading to severe mental distress.
The family claims Rathore threatened to hinder the completion of his thesis, a concern Rakesh had previously communicated to the police prior to his death.
A related video has been circulating extensively on social media over the past couple of days.
In relation to this case, Rakesh’s brother, Kishan Vishnoi, has lodged an FIR against Dr. Rajkumar Rathore at the Shastri Nagar police station in Jodhpur.
However, due to perceived inaction by the authorities, the family and their supporters have been protesting in Jaipur for the past week.
Additionally, a few days ago, a clash occurred between Congress leaders and police outside SMS Hospital. Following the incident, police indicated that they might file cases against the protesters.
Rakesh’s other brother, Subhash Vishnoi, has reiterated the family's claims, asserting that the harassment by Dr. Rajkumar drove Rakesh to take this drastic action.
