Hari Babu Kambhampati Takes Office as Odisha's New Governor

Bhubaneswar, Jan 2 (NationPress) The newly designated Governor of Odisha, Hari Babu Kambhampati, touched down at Bhubaneswar Airport on Thursday.
Upon his arrival, he was warmly greeted by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy CM KV Singh Deo, Deputy CM Pravati Parida, and various other ministers.
A formal Guard of Honour was presented to the newly appointed Governor at the airport, after which he proceeded to the Raj Bhawan, the official residence of the Odisha Governor.
Following this, Governor Kambhampati made his way to Puri, where he plans to offer prayers to the holy triad at the Jagannath Temple.
He is set to spend the night at Raj Bhawan in Puri and will visit the Srimandir on January 3.
His return to Bhubaneswar is scheduled for January 3, where he will take the oath of office at 10:15 a.m.
The oath will be administered by the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court in a ceremony at the Abhishek Hall of Raj Bhavan.
On December 24, 2024, President Droupadi Murmu appointed Kambhampati, the former Governor of Mizoram, to this new position, succeeding Raghubar Das, who resigned due to personal reasons.
Kambhampati earned a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communications from Andhra University. He also holds an ME in Electrical and Control Systems and a PhD in Control Systems from the same institution.
He served as an associate professor at Andhra University Engineering College for 24 years.
Kambhampati was also the President of Andhra Pradesh BJP from 2014 to 2018.
His predecessor, Raghubar Das, faced criticism from the opposition parties, including Biju Janata Dal and Congress, over an incident involving his son during the Rath Yatra last year.
Opposition members accused Das of turning the Odisha Raj Bhawan into a campaign hub for the Jharkhand Assembly elections.
After more than three years and five months in Mizoram, Kambhampati departed the northeastern state on Thursday to assume his new role in Odisha.
A ceremonial farewell was organized by Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma at the state's only airport in Lengpui, located approximately 30 km from Aizawl.
During the farewell, Kambhampati expressed his appreciation for the kind hospitality received during his time in Mizoram and acknowledged the state's potential for development.
He praised the positive atmosphere of the state's Assembly proceedings and the electoral process.
Kambhampati shared a heartfelt connection to Mizoram and extended his best wishes for its future.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma thanked Kambhampati for his contributions to the state's overall progress and wished him success in his new role, inviting him to visit Mizoram soon.
Kambhampati was sworn in as the 22nd Governor of Mizoram on July 21, 2021, and will be transitioning to Odisha for his new appointment on January 3.
The incoming Governor of Mizoram, General (retired) Vijay Kumar Singh, is expected to arrive on January 8 and will be sworn in as Mizoram's 23rd Governor on January 9 at Raj Bhavan.
Notable figures, including Mizoram Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama, Home Minister K. Sapdanga, Public Works Department Minister Vanlalhlana, Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena, and Director General of Police Anil Shukla, were present at the farewell event.
Kambhampati was accompanied by his wife, Jayashree Kambhampati.
Meanwhile, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das has officially resigned as Governor of Odisha, a resignation that has been accepted by President Murmu.
