Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday, 12 August directed senior officers to prepare a special action plan to complete basic infrastructure — including electricity and water supply — at the Global City being developed in Faridabad within three months. The directive came during the fourth review meeting of the State Pragati Portal, chaired by the Chief Minister.

Global City: Current Status and Scale

The Global City is being developed across 1,000 acres at an estimated cost of ₹1,000 crore. According to officials, 80 per cent of the physical construction work has already been completed, with the remaining work expected to be finished by December. Once operational, the project is expected to deliver modern urban amenities alongside expanded employment opportunities for the region's youth.

The city is designed as a smart, well-planned urban centre housing educational and healthcare institutions, malls, theatres, luxury hotels, community centres, and marriage palaces. A Namo Bharat Metro train service will also operate within the city, enhancing its connectivity credentials.

Key Infrastructure Directives

Chief Minister Saini additionally instructed officers to prepare an action plan for a world-class iconic tower within the Global City. He also directed the preparation of an expansion plan for the Pinjore airstrip. A dedicated water treatment plant and a green lake are to be developed, and the city will be linked to the Dwarka Expressway to ensure smooth road connectivity.

Logistics and Manufacturing Clusters

The Chief Minister reviewed progress at the Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics Hub at Nangal Chaudhary, where work on electricity, irrigation, roads, external rail siding, and the internal rail yard has been completed. An internal in-motion weighbridge is being installed and is expected to be ready within six months. Saini is scheduled to flag off a special train on the facility on 23 August.

At the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Hisar, extensive infrastructure development is underway. The IMC will host a Skill Development Centre, Convention Centre, Exhibition Hall, Logistics Park, and a Multi-Speciality Hospital, alongside facilities for defence and aerospace, agro-food processing, and garment and textile industries. A 220-kV power substation and water supply for the airport are also being developed, while construction of a boundary wall covering 1,578 acres in the first phase of the airport project is underway.

Tourism and Heritage Development

Under Swadesh Scheme II, Yadavindra Gardens in Panchkula will be developed further as a tourism and employment destination. Alongside renovation of the Pinjore Gardens, a high-end integrated wedding, convention, and hospitality destination is planned, including a 100-room hotel. An adventure park will come up at Tikkar Tal, while the existing adventure park at Thapli will be further upgraded.

With multiple infrastructure timelines converging before year-end, the coming months will be a critical test of Haryana's execution capacity across these flagship projects.
