Did Haseen Mastan Reveal Her Struggle as Haji Mastan's Daughter in a Shocking Abuse Case?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Dec 23 (NationPress) Haseen Mastan Mirza, who has recently attracted attention for her fight for justice in a case of alleged forced marriage and rape, claims that as the daughter of the notorious underworld figure Haji Mastan, she suffered sexual abuse at the hands of her ex-husband.
She has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to seek justice in a case involving allegations of sexual assault, forced marriage, and the illegal appropriation of her property.
In an interview with IANS, Haseen accused her maternal uncle's son, Naseer Hussain, of attempting to sexually assault her and subsequently forcing her into marriage when she was only 12 years old in 1996.
She emphasized that the trauma she has faced has no association with her identity as Haji Mastan's daughter during his lifetime, stating it only began after his passing.
Describing herself as a minor at the time of these alleged offenses, Haseen asserted that she was raped, subjected to ongoing mental and physical abuse, and stripped of her property after her identity was hidden.
Haseen claimed that the motives behind these crimes were greed and the wealth of her father.
"Had I not been born as Haji Mastan's daughter, I wouldn't have encountered these hardships. The perpetrators were lured by money. After my father's death, they believed they could seize all our wealth. The root of all this, including the rape and forced marriage, is financial gain. Even my ex-husband admitted to raping me because I am Haji Mastan's daughter," she stated during the interview.
She also expressed her desire to protect her father's legacy.
"My father earned numerous blessings throughout his life; he assisted many people. I wish for his name to remain untainted. He was a wonderful man, and I take pride in being his daughter. I am fighting this case to honor him," Haseen explained.
"I have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to enforce stricter laws that would instill fear in those committing such crimes openly. That is my primary demand... I was raped, there were attempts on my life, my unborn child was killed, I was forcibly married, and eventually abandoned on the streets without money or support," Haseen Mirza shared with IANS.
She mentioned that she has been battling this case since 2013 but has struggled to pursue it consistently due to financial limitations. Haseen also claimed that she received no assistance from law enforcement during this time.
"The police were never helpful. Had they assisted me, my mother would have been with me, and I would have received justice," she said, adding that intervention from Prime Minister Modi could ensure that her case does not get overlooked.
"If PM Modi intervenes in this case, it will gain the necessary attention," she added.
Reflecting on a distressing incident from her teenage years, Haseen recounted, "When I miscarried at 14, my aunt called the police, attempting to send me to a juvenile home... The police arrived at our house and realized my age, yet they still offered no help."
She further revealed that her ongoing distress led her to attempt suicide in 2010 following her divorce.
Denouncing rumors about entering politics, she stated that she has no such aspirations.
"I know many politicians, but I have no interest in politics. I want those in power—currently the BJP—to perform their duties effectively," she added.
Haseen expressed her support for UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's bulldozer actions, stating, "I even posted about it on X; I want him to come to Mumbai and carry out bulldozer actions at my bungalow, where the criminals reside. Everything that happened to me, my ex-husband's actions, were reprehensible. Under CM Yogi's rule, victims receive justice."
Haseen also shared that she was invited to appear on the reality show Bigg Boss but turned down the offer due to concerns about her mental well-being.
Her appeal follows a video she posted on Instagram last week, where she discussed her long quest for justice and reiterated her call for Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah to intervene, asserting she has been denied justice for years.
In the video, she commended the Prime Minister's move to ban triple talaq, while advocating for stricter laws to ensure swift justice in cases like hers, alleging that religious laws are misused within Islam.
She noted that the passage of the triple talaq bill demonstrated the support and blessings of women who felt liberated by the end of what she termed an unjust practice.
