Hashtag Melodi Showcases Strong India-Italy Relations: Italian Ambassador

New Delhi, Nov 30 (NationPress) Hashtag Melodi has gained immense popularity as it resonates with a widespread feeling and highlights the remarkable strength in the bilateral ties between India and Italy, stated Antonio Bartoli, the Ambassador of Italy to India, on Saturday.
“Everywhere I travel, I hear – Oh Melodi. From taxi drivers to hotel concierges, it has become deeply entrenched in our interactions,” Bartoli shared with IANS.
Conceived by the Italian Prime Minister, Hashtag Melodi was created by fusing the surnames of both Italian PM Giorgia Meloni and Indian PM Narendra Modi. The hashtag went viral, achieving over 1,280 million impressions on X within three days last year.
Discussing the hashtag's popularity, the Ambassador remarked, “It has become deeply ingrained because we share similar values; we are both democracies that place a high value on family, friendships, and food.”
Emphasizing the strengthening bonds between India and Italy, the Ambassador noted, “India is a priority topic in discussions across Italy, including among businesses, academia, and think tanks.”
Reflecting on the India-Italy relationship, he stated that the ties between the two nations are the best “we could have” due to a “strategic partnership,” with the two Prime Ministers having signed a joint action plan that encompasses various sectors, including defense, space, connectivity, tourism, digital, and energy transmission, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
“We are experiencing an unparalleled era in our bilateral relationship, owing to the contributions from both Prime Ministers,” Bartoli expressed.
“The two leaders have met five times in just two years, which underscores the strong rapport they share,” he added.
He pointed out that numerous complementarities have enriched the relationship between the two nations.
The Ambassador also celebrated the arrival of the Italian Navy’s 92-year-old training ship Amerigo Vespucci in Mumbai as historic and emotional.
He visited the training vessel docked at Mumbai port, which was accessible to the public for a day. This marks the third visit of an Italian Navy ship to India in 18 months, highlighting Italy's commitment to the Indo-Pacific region.
