Shimla, Nov 6 (NationPress) During a review of the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL) on Thursday, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu urged for the swift progression of hydroelectric power initiatives.
In his assessment of the 450 MW Shong Tong Power Project, he instructed the authorities to complete it by December 2026.
CM Sukhu noted that over 60 percent of the project is already finished and highlighted the importance of hastening the remaining tasks.
He also mandated the establishment of the transmission line concurrently to ensure timely power evacuation from this project.
The Chief Minister discussed the advancement of other projects, including 130 MW Kashang-II and III, 48 MW Chanju-III, 40 MW Renuka Dam, and 191 MW Thana Plaun, and insisted that the completion timelines be strictly followed.
He emphasized the creation of pump storage projects and urged HPPCL to commence work on the proposed 1,630 MW Renukaji and 270 MW Thana Plaun pump storage projects as soon as possible.
According to him, these pump storage projects are vital for supplying electricity during peak demand hours and alleviating the grid's load.
The Chief Minister reiterated that harnessing green energy is a major priority for the government, directing HPPCL to accelerate ongoing solar power projects. He also requested the identification of new land for additional solar power projects.
Furthermore, he reviewed the One MW green hydrogen plant at Nalagarh and instructed the completion of this project by June 2026.
He urged HPPCL to adopt a more professional approach in their operations, stating that the current government aims to establish Himachal Pradesh as the 'Green Energy' hub of the country by next year.
