On the eve of the statehood day, CM Sukhu announced the establishment of an agriculture and horticulture commission to ensure the engagement of farmers and orchardists while protecting their rights.
He mentioned that a Bill will be introduced in the upcoming Budget Session of the Assembly to set up this commission.
Additionally, the Chief Minister revealed the opening of the Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Pragpur and the Public Health Centre in Nalsuha within the Jaswan Assembly constituency.
He stated that when the current government took office, it inherited liabilities exceeding Rs 10,000 crore related to salary and pension arrears. Currently, outstanding dues total Rs 8,555 crore. Despite these financial challenges, the government will fully pay the arrears for pensioners and family pensioners aged 70 and above by the end of January, allocating Rs 90 crore for this purpose.
