Jammu, June 5 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Thursday that June 6 (Friday) will mark a significant occasion for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir, as projects totaling Rs 46,000 crore will be inaugurated, greatly benefiting the local population in the union territory.
In a message on X, the Prime Minister expressed that "tomorrow, June 6, is truly a remarkable day for my sisters and brothers of Jammu and Kashmir."
“The inauguration of major infrastructure projects valued at Rs 46,000 crore will positively influence the lives of the people. The Chenab Rail Bridge, a remarkable architectural achievement, will enhance connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar. Additionally, the Anji Bridge represents India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge amidst a challenging landscape.
"The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project guarantees all-weather connectivity, and the launch of Vande Bharat trains from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar will promote spiritual tourism and create job opportunities," stated PM Modi.
The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, visited both the Chenab Railway Bridge and the Anji Khad cable-stayed railway Bridge on Thursday.
Omar shared images of the Chenab Bridge on X, stating: “I visited the tallest railway bridge in the world, the Chenab Bridge, to prepare for the Prime Minister's visit tomorrow. It is a historic day for Jammu and Kashmir as the valley will finally be connected to the rest of the country with a new railway link, inaugurated by the Honourable PM.”
On Friday, the Prime Minister will visit the Chenab Railway Bridge around 11 a.m.
He will also inaugurate two Vande Bharat trains from Katra on June 6. The train from Katra to Srinagar will be flagged off in person by the Prime Minister, while the other will be launched virtually from Srinagar to Katra.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation and inaugurate various projects amounting to Rs 46,000 crore on Friday.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inspected the ongoing work at Jammu railway station and informed reporters that the train service from Jammu to Srinagar is set to commence in September this year.
