The President further acknowledged that the Indian team has the unique honor of winning the championship back-to-back.

“Warmest congratulations to Team India, which has achieved several historical feats by winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup decisively. India is the proud holder of the distinction of winning the cup three times, and it is also the sole team to have claimed the title twice in succession,” the post stated.

In a dominant display, India became the first team to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title, securing three world championships and clinching the trophy on home soil by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, attended by 86,824 fans.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav has now joined the ranks of Indian leaders who have guided the team to a World Cup title, having maintained an unbeaten streak since taking over in July 2024 — a record showcasing India's dominance in the T20 format.

This monumental victory also broke significant barriers, as India had never before defeated New Zealand in a Men’s T20 World Cup match, and the win in Ahmedabad marked a turnaround after prior defeats at this venue, including the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia and a Super Eights loss to South Africa.

Star player Sanju Samson led the charge with a stunning 89 runs off 46 balls, featuring five fours and eight sixes, propelling India to a formidable total of 255/5 — the second-highest score in the tournament and the highest ever in a World Cup match.

Samson, in exceptional form with scores of 97 not out and 89 in his last two matches, partnered with Abhishek Sharma for an opening stand of 98 runs, where Sharma contributed 52 runs off 21 balls. Ishan Kishan also made a significant impact with 54 runs off 25 balls, further amplifying the team's scoring.
