Mumbai, Jan 15 (NationPress) Maharashtra BJP leader and Vice President of Mumbai Pradesh Hitesh Jain on Wednesday launched a fierce critique against Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, regarding his controversial assertion about "fighting the Indian State."
“I am not surprised by his assertion. A closer look at his comments over the last few months reveals that he has consistently opposed the Indian State. He regularly criticizes India, its heritage, and its culture. Today, he has expressed his views openly, which is beneficial for the public to perceive his true nature,” Hitesh Jain told IANS.
Jain further charged the LoP with a sense of entitlement, stating, “Rahul Gandhi seems to think that simply because he bears the Gandhi surname, he deserves to hold the highest office, regardless of his credibility or electoral success. His ongoing remarks indicate a lack of respect for India.”
Previously, the Congress MP had sharply criticized RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, alleging that the BJP, RSS, and their affiliates have systematically taken control of India's institutions. He claimed that the Congress party's fight was no longer solely against political rivals but against the entire apparatus of the Indian State.
“Do not consider this a fair contest. It’s not just against political entities like the BJP or RSS; they have taken over nearly every institution in the country. We are now confronting the Indian State itself,” Gandhi stated during the inauguration of the new Congress headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday.
Hitesh Jain also commented on the Congress party’s choice to name its new headquarters 'Indira Bhavan,' questioning why it wasn’t named after former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
“Rahul Gandhi has never shown respect towards Dr. Manmohan Singh. Recall how he publicly disregarded an Ordinance during Dr. Singh’s time as Prime Minister? That was a blatant insult. Naming the headquarters after Manmohan Singh could have restored some of the respect lost during his administration,” Jain told IANS.
Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi inaugurated the new Congress headquarters, 'Indira Bhavan,' on Wednesday. Situated at 9A Kotla Road, the headquarters replaces the iconic 24 Akbar Road premises, which served the party for 47 years.
The Congress portrayed the new headquarters as a symbol of democracy, nationalism, secularism, inclusive development, and social justice.
Regarding the Union Home Ministry's approval for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to prosecute former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in the alleged liquor scam, Jain remarked, “This is a legal procedure. Kejriwal is the key figure in the scam. While the law will proceed accordingly, Kejriwal must be accountable to the people of Delhi for his actions, including the funding of the Sheesh Mahal and the betrayal of public trust.”
The Home Ministry sanctioned the ED's actions under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in relation to the 2021-22 liquor policy case. The contentious policy was revoked by the AAP government led by Kejriwal.
