BJP's Hitesh Jain Demands Inquiry into Rahul Gandhi's Alleged Ties with OCCRP

Mumbai, Dec 5 (NationPress) Maharashtra BJP leader Hitesh Jain has urged for a thorough inquiry into the alleged affiliations of opposition leaders, notably Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, with the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). The OCCRP, which is said to be financed by billionaire investor George Soros' Open Society Foundation, has frequently been at the center of controversies in India.
Jain accused Rahul Gandhi and his political associates of exploiting OCCRP reports to damage India’s reputation and disrupt the functioning of Parliament.
“George Soros funds the Open Society Foundation, which, in turn, backs OCCRP. Rahul Gandhi references their reports without substantiating them and employs them strategically. His allies amplify these narratives in Parliament, leading to disorder. While political discourse is inherent in a democracy, the national interest must take precedence over party politics. Regrettably, our opposition seems to prioritize its political agenda above the nation's wellbeing. This necessitates a comprehensive investigation,” Jain remarked during an interview with IANS.
Jain further claimed that reports from OCCRP and similar entities, such as those concerning Pegasus spyware or the Hindenburg controversy, often emerge just before parliamentary sessions. He suggested a deliberate strategy to disrupt India by shaping public perception and hindering governmental operations.
“Observe the timing -- just prior to parliamentary sessions, unfounded claims emerge. Their intention appears to be to create turmoil, hinder proceedings, and depict India negatively. Soros has openly expressed his desire to destabilize India due to his disapproval of its advancements. While his motivations as an outsider may be comprehensible, it is disheartening that our opposition aligns with such forces to fulfill their narrow interests. Their actions tarnish India’s international image,” Jain commented.
The matter was also brought up in Parliament when BJP MP Nishikant Dubey accused the Congress party of conspiring with foreign entities to undermine the nation and derail India's growth narrative. BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra similarly charged Rahul Gandhi with collaborating with foreign forces to "destabilize India" and labeled him a "traitor." During a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Patra alleged Rahul Gandhi was involved in a "dangerous triangle" with US businessman and investor George Soros and the OCCRP.
Discussing the new government in Maharashtra, Hitesh Jain praised Devendra Fadnavis, who has resumed his role as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister. Reflecting on Fadnavis’s term from 2014 to 2019 and his position as Deputy Chief Minister, Jain credited him for propelling progress and expediting infrastructure initiatives.
“The citizens of Maharashtra are thrilled with Fadnavis’s return as CM. His prior tenure was characterized by swift development and dynamic governance, earning him the title of ‘Metro Man’ for enhancing the metro network across Mumbai and other cities. Fadnavis represents the vision of a ‘Viksit Maharashtra,’ akin to the Prime Minister’s aspiration of a ‘Viksit Bharat.’ Maharashtra is poised for significant advancements under his leadership,” Jain told IANS.
