Hyderabad, Jan 28 (NationPress) A youth injured in the fire incident on a boat and floating jetty in Hussain Sagar lake has tragically succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, while search efforts for another missing individual persist.
Ganapati (22), who was critically hurt, passed away while receiving treatment at Yashoda Hospitals.
This young man, from the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, suffered from 100 percent superficial burns.
During the event named ‘Bharat Mata Maha Harati’ at People’s Plaza along Necklace Road, a total of six individuals were injured due to fireworks that were ignited from a boat and the jetty.
In the meantime, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and police teams are actively searching for S. Ajay, a 21-year-old engineering student who went missing after the incident.
Approximately ten rescue teams are engaged in locating him; he was present with friends who were promptly rescued after the fire erupted.
Ajay’s family contacted the police early Monday morning to report his disappearance and urged the authorities to initiate a search operation for him. Unfortunately, rescue efforts on Monday did not yield any results.
The police have filed a case and are investigating the cause of the fire, which was reportedly triggered by exploding firecrackers.
